About Transformation Conversations
Transformation Conversations (TC) is a representation of visibility and support for the transgender community. The project's mission is to create, educate and inform individuals about the process of changing bodies in the form of design apparel. In order to do so, TC explores different conversations within the trans community by bringing together trans individuals to share stories about their challenges with clothing. This opens up a larger conversation about everyday visibility in the design world in order to promote an understanding of gender identity.

Community Interviews
Transformation Conversations’ (TC) goal is to provide guidance to individuals during transitioning stages through garments that create comfort and confidence. This project's development stages include scientific research, lectures, and interviews with doctors and focus groups with trans individuals. Our designs invite opportunities for individuals to share their own personal challenges. Transformation Conversations is more than just clothing pieces, it is a community.
Garment Designs
My designs invite opportunities for individuals to share their own personal challenges. TC offers an innovative proposal towards functionality and aesthetically engaging clothing. Each clothing piece is motivated to improve transitioning stages that does not comply to a specific fashion calendar. By specializing in body changing adjustments, TC's clothing assists with the appearance of tucking, packing, less empassis on curve, etc. (breast tissue, unconstricted binding garments coming soon)
Piece 1:
This piece was inspired by various transmales who have problems finding pants. Male pants are not catered to curves, height or leg width. As a result many have seeked tailors to adjust their pants, taking at least 2-3inches from the leg and a foot to the ankle. This can be a costly process that some can’t afford.
These pants consist of layers of fabric to mimick the shape of a phallus. By having a side zipper, it contributes to the illusion of the phallus layers. The layers also act as a packer insert. This piece also contains an elastic waistband to adjust to different body sizes during the transitioning stages and seams down the middle of the front and back of the pants to give less emphasis on curves.

Piece 2:
Transformative jacket that can be worn three different ways. Inspired by various group dicussions on playing with the idea of gender identity.

Form: 1

This jacket drew inspiration from an experience Ian and Sebastian shared during a group discussion. Although they identified as transmale, the couple spoke about times in which they revisited their assigned gender at birth through clothing. This jacket is meant to capture those different stages of masculine, non-binary and feminine qualities.
Form: 2

Form: 3

Piece 3:
This piece was inspired by both Ian and Maya. Ian’s favorite pair of pants conceals his waist and has a large bell bottom that resembles a skirt like quality. Maya likes to dress with simple black and grey tones. She doesnt have a preference on gender specific clothing and tends to lean towards pieces with both feminine and masculine qualities.
